Evening Creativity

I got bored tonight. Not in the mood for starting a new project but yet I can't NOT KNIT!! ;) Sooo, I sat down with some remnant yarn and started goofing around with it. After a couple of hours I came up with several stitch patterns I actually liked, this one being my favorite, so far. ;) What do you think it...be completely honest now!!

....I think I am going to try this on larger needles yet...this is on sz 8.....if I go bigger obviously the lace work will be easier to see.

Knit Baby Blanket

My forever work in progress. I LOVE this pattern but have been at this blanket for months, mainly because I do not have immediate need of it so I'm taking it slow...it's my go to project when I am "between" projects. As you can see, I did screw up the bottom few rows and realized it too little too late but, oh well. That's a beginner for ya! ;) I got this pattern off of http://www.ravelry.com/, thanks to Yarn Lover's Room for the pattern. http://www.knitting-crochet.com/babbla.html.

Indian Summer Headband

So, here I am with another headband. And this one was such a quick, fun knit up! I LOVE the way it turned out!! :D Instructions as follows: Using Sz. 8 straight needles and a remnant of Red Heart Eco-Cotton in Linen Marl I cast on 11 stitches and knit the entire thing in the Turkish stitch, also known as the Lace Like stitch.
Actually, I used a variation of the Turkish stitch:
Row 1: K1 *YO,K2tog...repeat from * to end of row
Repeat row 1 for entire desired length of headband.
Bind off.
Sew ends together.
Glue on a large fake flower or other fun *girlie* things

Regular Turkish stitch would be to cast on any even number of stitches so that you can K the first stitch and K the last stitch. There are 3 or 4 variations of this Lace Like/Turkish stitch. I learned this stitch from Knitting Tips by Judy off of youtube.

On a side note, I knit this headband to 15 inches as it has A LOT of stretch. My daughter wearing it is 8 1/2 but this headband even fits me with all the stretch so be sure to make it smaller than you think you should to avoid sagging or loose fit.

Headband or Headwarmer

Ready for this? It's CAKE baby, CAKE! Grab a remnant of yarn, cast on 35 sts on sz. 8 needles.

Row 1: K5, P5 across

Row 2: P5. K5 across

Repeat rows 1 and 2 to desired length. :)

Didn't I say CAKE?? :)

Also, one could cast on less stitches for less width. :)

Plush Baby Blanket

For this sweet little number, using Yarn Bee Boucle Taditions, Pink Camo, I cast on 147 stitches and knit stitch the entire thing. I didn't measure anything, I just knit until I was happy with the length. This was knit on U.S. sz 10, 29 inch circular needles. I think though, when I do it again (because I really liked it), I will cast on 137 or possibly even 127 stitches to make it slightly less rectangular. :)
